Nevins Township Women's Auxiliary
P.O. Box 162, Fontanet, IN 47851 |
|
(Note from the Women's Auxiliary)
To the people of Nevins Township:
The Women's Auxiliary
would like to thank the people of Nevins Twp. for your
continued support at our various functions. The
support and the generous donations made for our
dinners as well as the monetary support of our raffles
and bake sales is much appreciated. We would
welcome new members. Our meetings are the 2nd
Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm at the Fontanet Fire
House. We have dinners and organize other
activities to raise funds so that we can do community
service. One of the goals we would like to address
this year is finding funding for and erecting a memorial
to our residents (and in some cases family members) who
perished in the October 1907 Du Pont powder mill
explosion. Any one who has an interest in helping
to forward this goal, or presenting other ideas to us,
please contact us.
In the past year we purchased two life savings rings for
water rescues and presented them to the Nevins Twp. Fire
Dept. We served dinner for a Fire Dept. training
class with other departments in attendance as well.
We were able to hire a band for the Fontanet Bean Dinner
on Saturday afternoon, sold cornbread, held a cakewalk,
and a raffle. The women have also served at three
funeral dinners for township residents who have passed
away. In May and again in November we sent out 13
boxes to service men and women serving away from home.
We donated items to the Nevins Fire Dept. for their
annual Eater egg hunt at the Bean Dinner Grove. In
October we had a Halloween party for township children
at the Bean Dinner Grove, and in December we adopted a
family with several children for the Christmas holiday.
Here is a list of the dinners that we have planned for

we will again send boxes to the soldiers who still may

We would welcome donations of clothing and small
household items. Part of the proceeds will benefit
the Council on Domestic Abuse (CODA), with any unsold
items being donated to the Conner House (women's and
children shelter run by Lighthouse mission located in
the old Otter Creek High School building). If you
wish to donate any items for the sale contact an
auxiliary member. In the month of December will
also do a community service project.
For any community
member who is unable to work at or donate for our
dinners we would still certainly welcome your input.
Anyone who has questions about our projects and ideas
for new or different projects, please contact any
auxiliary member.
Once again we
thank everyone so much for the support that has been
shown for our organization.
