Paul Emerson Cox
Class of 1947
Paul
Emerson Cox died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, in
Union Hospital. He was born Nov. 25,1927, in
Fontanet Ind. to Paul Elijah Cox and Essie
Thelma Runnels Cox.
He was retired from Postal
service after 32 years. Fifteen of which he was
Postmaster of Fontanet. He also worked as State
Permits Inspector for the Indiana State Highway.
He is survived by his wife, Joan R. Cox; two
daughters, Kathy Seeley and fiance Donald
Bradbury of Terre Haute, Dianne Reeves and
husband Louis of Terre Haute; two sons, Paul E.
Cox Jr. and wife Rene, John R. Cox and wife
Belinda all of Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother,
Kenneth A. Cox of Terre Haute; 14 grandchildren,
Cora E. Burns, Bradley Hendrix, Brandy Myers,
Paul E. Cox III, Louis A. Reeves, Sean Reeves,
Kyle Seeley, Glenn Cox, Jordon, Deborah, Erin
and Michael Cox, Terri and Ashley Bradshaw and
six great-grandchildren, Michael Burns,
Alexander Myers, Aiden and Isaac Cox, Rile Myers
and Oliver Hendrix. He was preceded in
death by his parents; and two brothers, Donald
and Richard Cox.
Paul loved gardening,
fishing and time with family. He was The Past
Holder of the Terre Haute Post Office Credit
Union for eight years. He was a former member
and officer of the Bassorama fishing
organization. He loved socializing with
people. He was a longtime member of the United
Commercial Travelers of America, of which he was
Past Grand Counselor, Past Grand Secretary
Member, Past Grand Secretary-Treasurer member,
AMOB, Illinois-Indiana and Secretary-Treasurer
Association of US. He was a active member for 40
years in the Masonic Lodge. He was Past Master
of Social Lodge 86, Past Member of Past Masters,
Past Patron of Order of Eastern Star, Rosedale
American Legion Post 290, VFW Post 972.
Funeral
services are 1 p.m. Monday at Mattox Wood
Funeral Home. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday
at the funeral home. There will be a Masonic
memorial service on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. The
Rev. Bill Herb will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
