Jimmie Lee
Handlin, at 69, of
Fontanet, Indiana, died at 10:18 a.m.
December 18, 2005, at the Indiana University
Medical Center in Indianapolis.
He was
born April 10, 1936, in Vigo County, Indiana as
the son of John T. "Jack" and Janet Rankin
Handlin. He was a 1954 graduate of
Fontanet High
School and attended Indiana State University. He
married Tyra Joan Atkinson April 9, 1988. He
worked as a car salesman, owned his own
concession business and drove a Vigo County
school bus for 13 years. He was a member of the
Eagles Lodge and the Marine Corps League. He
enjoyed his collections, sports and spending
winters in Texas and Florida.
He was
preceded in death by his parents. He is survived
by his wife; two sons, Jimmie Handlin Jr. and
his wife, Mandy, of Paris, Illinois and Jay
Handlin and his wife, Terry, of Houston, Texas;
a stepdaughter, Angela Lohrman, and husband,
James, of Brazil; grandchildren, Jared, Mikaela
and Kasey Handlin; stepgrandchildren, Kendra
Siddens, Alexandra Atkinson, Nicholas Coltharp,
Kathryn Coltharp, Jessica Lohrman, and Larissa
Lohrman; several aunts, uncles, cousins and lots
of good friends.
Visitation
will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Moore Funeral
Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday
with the Rev. Bill Herb officiating. Burial will
follow at Clearview Cemetery.
Should friends so desire, expressions of
sympathy may take the form of donations to the
American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be
available at the funeral home. |
