TERRE HAUTE- Vernon D. Hayne, 76,
of Terre Haute, died at 4:55 p.m.
Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, in Davis
Gardens Health and Rehabilitation
Center.
He was born on Oct. 18, 1932, in Terre
Haute, to Vern E. Hayne and Mary Opal
Allen Hayne.Survivors include his son,
Allen Hayne and wife Mara; three
grandchildren, Madison Hayne, Casey
Hayne and Taylor Hayne; nieces and
nephews, Bruce Lautenschlager and wife
Julie, Shelly Gardner and husband John,
and Christel Cooper and husband Phil;
and great-nieces and nephews.He was
preceded in death by his wife, Barbara
Jean Lautenschlager Hayne, on March 19,
2002; and one brother, Ford Hayne.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having
served in the Korean War, and a 1950
graduate of Fontanet High School and
1958 graduate of Purdue University. He
was a member of the Veterans of Foreign
Wars Post 972 and Riley American Legion
Post 328. He was involved in Vigo County
4-H for over 65 years and enjoyed
following the athletic careers of his
granddaughters.
Per Vernon’s wishes, there are no
services or visitation. Burial is in
Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Arrangements
under the direction of DeBaun Funeral
Homes, 85 E. Springhill Dr. In lieu of
flowers, memorial contributions may be
made to Vigo County 4-H Swine and Goat
