Jean (Cress) Hicks
Class of 1948
PORTAGE — PORTAGE — Marilyn J. Hicks,
80, of Portage, passed away Thursday,
Aug. 19, 2010, at her home. Marilyn had
been a Portage resident since 1948 and
was formerly of Fontanet, Ind. She was a
member of the First Baptist Church of
Portage and enjoyed crafts and church
activities.
Marilyn is survived by her loving
husband of 61 years, Hugh E. Hicks of
Portage; two sons, Charles Wayne (Linda)
Hicks and David Michael (Barbara) Hicks;
daughter, Shirley (John) Kallio, all of
Valparaiso; 11 grandchildren; 15
great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Reed
of Pimento; and several nieces and
nephews. She was preceded in death by
three brothers; and one sister.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are
preferred to either Porter County VNA
Hospice or the First Baptist Church of
Portage.
Funeral services will be held Saturday,
Aug. 21, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Rees
Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central
Avenue, in Portage, with Pastor Terry
Gibson officiating. Burial will follow
at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in
Hobart. Visitation will be today from 4
