James ”Jim“ Lowe,
72, of Terre Haute, a Marine Corps
veteran of the Korean conflict,
graduated from Fontanet High School and
attended Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology. Immediately after college,
he was employed by Gibson Coal Co. until
it sold, then transferred to Black
Beauty Mine in Evansville. He moved back
to his hometown of Terre Haute and was
employed by Sycamore Ridge until his
passing.
He is survived by
his wife of 41 years, Avis; four
daughters and their spouses, Lisa and
Rex Dyer, Era and Chuck Nichols, and
Penny and Michelle Lowe; three sons,
Godfrey, Jimmy and Michael; two sisters,
Patricia Roach, and Mary Helen Ash and
her husband Richard; one brother and his
spouse, Gene and Sue Lowe;
grandchildren, Christina, Shaun, Chad,
Michelle, Justin, Mike, Tasha, Steve,
and Kenneth; several
great-grandchildren, and nieces and
nephews. He was preceded in death by his
father, Kenneth Lowe, and his mother,
Ruth Wells.
He was a member of
American Legion 104 and an avid
sportsman. Funeral services are 10 a.m.
Saturday in Mattox-Wood Funeral Home.
Burial is in Highland Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today in the
funeral home.
