Margaret Lowe Lyon
Class of 1936
Margaret
Lyon, 85 of Brazil, died at 8:25 a.m. Saturday,
April 24, 2004.
Born Dec.
17, 1918, in Vigo County, Ind., she was the
daughter of Clarence and May McGranahan Lowe.
Following
graduation from
Fontanet High School, she married Hubert
Lyon and moved to the Bee Ridge area where she
and Hubert owned and operated Lyon's Diary. In
later years, they enjoyed traveling. She was a
lifetime member of Peniel United Methodist
Church and had participated in the women's group
activities. Margaret loved cooking and baking
and especially enjoyed teaching others her
famous recipes. She was renowned for her pies
and noodles.
Her
parents; her husband Hubert in 1993; three
sisters, Erma Grenhoff, Mildred Brindle and
Letha Hoffman; two brothers, Harold Lowe,
Raymond Lowe and one granddaughter, Rita Dennis,
preceded her in death.
She is
survived by two sisters, Doris Brackney of
Catlin, Ill., and Helen Dowel of Carmel, Ind.;
one daughter, Janice Petro and husband Jim of
Columbus, Indiana; three sons, Don Lyon and wife
Bonnie of St. Louis, Steve Lyon of Brazil and
Bob Lyon and wife Cathy of Brazil; five
grandchildren, Julie Lyon Rincon and husband
Dan, Amy Petro Rawlings and husband Jason, Emily
Petro Schumm and husband Adam, Sara Lyon Neyer
and husband John and Aaron Lyon; six great
grandchildren and special friend and caregiver,
Maude Riley.
Visitation
will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Moore Funeral Home
and again Wednesday until time of funeral
services. Funeral services will be 11 a.m.
Wednesday with burial to follow at Bee Ridge
Cemetery.
Should friends so desire, expressions of
sympathy may take the form of donations to
