John
A. Mattox, 59,
died at 3:01 p.m.
Thursday Nov. 29, 2007 at Methodist Hospital in
Indianapolis.
He was born Nov. 1, 1948 in Terre Haute, to
Chester Mattox and Betty Smeja Mattox. Survivors
include a son, Chet Mattox and wife Sheryl; two
daughters, Lisa Leitgabel and husband Dave and
Misty Lawson and husband Jeff; a brother, Joe
Mattox and wife Linda; a sister, Diana Haltom;
and eight grandchildren, Alexis, Amber Leigh,
J.C., Destiny, Hanna, Loryann, Emma and Tyler;
nieces and nephews, Shala Ingle, Adam Mattox,
Amy Mattox and Angie Poole. He was preceded in
death by both parents.
He
was a graduate of Garfield High School, class of
1966 and a graduate of Indiana College of
Mortuary Science. He was the owner of Terre
Haute Casket Company, and a Licensed Funeral
Director and Embalmer for Mattox-Wood Funeral
Home.
He
was a lifetime member of Nevins Fire Dept., a
member of the Fontanet Bean Dinner Association,
Indiana Funeral Directors Association and a
lifelong resident of Fontanet.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at
Mattox-Wood Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill
Herb officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m.
Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in
Roselawn Memorial Park.
