TERRE HAUTE — Doris
Marie Runnels Pence, 85, of Terre Haute passed
away Sunday Feb. 18, 2007, in Union Hospital.
She was born Nov. 28, 1921, in Coal Bluff, Ind.,
to Dalvie H. Runnels and Ruth Anna Dowell
Runnels. She was a homemaker and formerly worked
at Unique Printing. She lived the last portion
of her life with her daughter and family near
her childhood home.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Pence-Keith
and her husband Phillip of Rosedale; a son,
William L. Pence and his wife Linda of Rosedale;
grandchildren, Sarah Keith, Kara Keith, Megan
Pence, Kenna Pence, and B.A. Pence; several
brothers-in-law; several sisters-in-law; and
several nieces nephews and cousins. She was
preceded in death by her husband of 43 years,
William A. Pence; both parents; a brother,
Maurice E. Runnels.
She was very active in childrens’ education
serving as a Room Mother at Lange School and a
PTA member. She was a devoted daughter, wife,
mother and grandmother. She was very musical and
played piano, loved to dance and was a great
cook. She was a graduate of Fontanet High
School.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Friday in
Callahan-Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th St.,
with Kenny Tilford officiating. Visitation is
from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Burial is in Roselawn
Memorial Park. If friends so desire memorial
