Shirley Ann (Eveland) Starr

BRAZIL — Shirley Ann Starr, 72, of Brazil, passed away at 12:55 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, following a long illness. She was born in Coal Bluff on May 26, 1937, to John and Margaret Marie (Bailey) Eveland. She attended Fontanet High School. In her younger years she worked for Oehler's Five and Dime store and at the Rosedale IGA. She married William Starr on May 10, 1963. Shirley was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She and her husband enjoyed traveling, camping and spending time outdoors. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Fred "Peanut" Eveland and Bobby Eveland; and a sister, Margie McMurray. She is survived by her husband; son, William Starr Jr. and wife Dawn of Brazil; daughter, Sue Ann Fitzpatrick; younger brother, Darrell Eveland and wife Cathy of Vigo County; grandchildren, Joshua Fitzpatrick, Samantha Starr, Jessica Starr and husband Ben Witt, all of Brazil; great-granddaughter. Kylee Witt; as well as a large extended family. Services for Mrs. Starr will be at French Funeral Home, in Brazil on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Tony Alstott officiating. Burial will follow at Bee Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
