James R. Van
Hook, 81, of Fontanet, died at 8:10 p.m.
Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008 in Union Hospital.
He was born March 27, 1926, in Fontanet, to Zenius Van Hook and Grace Long Van Hook.
He was a retired postmaster of Fontanet U.S.
Post Office.
Survivors include his wife of
61 years, Lucille Stultz Van Hook; two
daughters, Becky Spicer and husband Steven and
Barbara Hendrix and husband Dennis; one son,
Richard Alan Van Hook; one brother, Billy Dean
Van Hook; three sisters, Jean Chubrillo and
husband Victor, Mary Alice Buffo, and Joan Wood;
grandchildren, Brett Van Hook and wife Dana,
Brittany Van Hook, Brooke Welte and husband
Mike, and Scott Lawson; great-grandchildren,
Brock Van Hook, Dean Welte, and Ellie Welte; and
several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in
death by his parents; four sisters, Mildred
Walther, Mabel Dietrick, Dorothy Rolando, and
Helen Van Hook; and a brother, Wayne Van Hook.
He was a 1944 graduate of Fontanet High School.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
during World War II.
There are no services
or visitation per his wishes. Cremation was
chosen. Mattox-Wood Funeral Home assisted
with arrangements. |
