Ruth P. Van Hook Lawson
Class of 1929
Ruth P.
Lawson, 92, formerly of Indianapolis and Brazil,
died Friday, June 27, 2003, at 6:15 a.m. in a
nursing home in Eldorado, Ill.
She was
born in Coal Bluff, Vigo County, on May 10,
1911, a daughter of the late Stanley Van Hook
and Josephine Mann Van Hook and was 1929
graduate of Fontanet
High School.
She lived
in Indianapolis from 1941 to 1972, where she was
an inspector for the Continental Optical
Company.
After
retirement, she moved to Brazil, where she was a
member of the N. Meridian St. Church of Christ.
When her health began failing, she moved to
Illinois to be near her sister.
She
married William J. Lawson on June 8, 1932. He
preceded her in death in 1984.
She was
also preceded in death by one sister, Hyla
Walters.
Surviving
are one sister, Mary Knott of Eldorado, and
several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Miller
Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in Clearview
Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. |
